About Art and the Cyber Physical Revolution
Art has always been an important part of human existence. Since the Stone Age, humans are born with the need to express themselves. This article informs us about the importance of art and creativity in the wake of the cyber physical revolution. Read on to find Carmen's recommendation in order to get prepared for this third industrial revolution.
Have you ever had the feeling of wanting to create something big after leaving an art exhibition? Well, it may be because by increasing our consciousness we are more willing to live new and different experiences that lead to creativity. Art actually works as a stimulus for creativity and the alacrity to learn.
Think about the first human beings in the Stone Age – did they feel that way too? Did their cave paintings only have a lucrative aspect? Ever since, humans have been drawing and creating art works for many different purposes. It is only now, with the newest technological advances, that we can explore what happens when we contemplate art and give our bestowed critiques to it.
According to the journal Brain and Cognition, the visualisation and understanding of art increases positively our creativity and transforms our cognition - meaning our internalised beliefs, thoughts and emotions.
All over the world people like Klaus Schwab (Chairman of the World Economic Forum, engineer and economist) believe that we are on the verge of entering the fourth industrial revolution – the cyber physical revolution. Clearly this implies that our lifestyles are going to change, and just as in all the other three revolutions, many jobs will disappear or will be replaced by robotics, but likewise, many others will be created. Robotics and perhaps artificial intelligence are going to be part of our lives through our routines.
However, we shall never lose out of sight that we, humans, have a value added that no machine will ever replace. Namely, our creativity and overall humanitarian traits such as the emotions we experience in each situation.
To greet this upcoming era with wide opened arms, we have to keep on putting more focus on our own added values– the ones that make us who we are. The first step to increase it would be becoming conscious of said values, understanding them in a deeper level, and then trying to increase them – but always stay wide eyed.
My tip for getting prepared for this third industrial revolution would be to embrace art, learn about the past and smile into the future!
