3 Spots for a Homemade Lunch around IE #2
MADRID - This week, our student Manuela Ramirez reviews three more places to eat homemade food near IE Madrid Campus at an affordable price.
BANIBANOO
Located 15 minutes walking away from university, you will instantly fall in love with the place. Ran by an Iranian young woman, it is the perfect place to try Persian food if you never did before. The restaurant offers a 13.5 euros menu from Monday to Friday composed of 3 options that each person chooses from a large variety of wonderful dishes that are displayed at the bar. It also includes a drink as well as a coffee or Iranian tea to finish with a big smile on your face. It Is highly recommended to try the Iranian lemonade infused with cucumber and eatable flowers.
It is not as cheap as the other restaurants listed below but it is truly worth trying! You will be filled and completely satisfied with delicious food in a pleasant setting. You can try the different types of Iranian rice on the menu and any of the eggplant entrées. One tasty dish they serve is the one the picture composed of sweet potatoes with onions, yogurt sauce, chopped almonds and pomegranate seeds.
Additional tip: It is highly recommended to make a reservation as it is usually a busy restaurant.

SUGARCANE
Recently opened, this charming restaurant is located on Diego de León. Its terrace offers a warm ambience with its tropical and colourful decoration. Although the menu is not too long, it offers a great variety of cuisines from different parts of the world. From tequeños with sweet chipotle sauce (typical Venezuelan cuisine) to Ropa vieja (Cuban dish) or truffle macaroni and cheese. Besides, they offer a tasty daily menu changing on a daily basis. Additionally, it is the perfect place to enjoy delicious cocktails at an affordable cost in nice ambiance during the weekend. Finally, for gourmets, the Cookie skillet served with French vanilla ice cream is a must-try. You won’t regret it!
