IE’s Philanthropic Club, with Valentine’s day approaching, has decided to launch a campaign where you will be able to show your appreciation towards your friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, or simply a platform to prank your friends, while at the same time having a positive impact in a children’s life. By purchasing a rose, a card, or a personalized serenade performed by IE’s Music Club, you will be helping kids in Ghana to attend school and have a successful season in their local soccer league!

The “Spread the Love” campaign launched by the Philanthropic Club during late January has one mission in mind, increasing the living conditions of children in Ghana. Aliroyal Surf and Soccer foundation is a dedicated NGO that aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and a sense of unity within the community through sports. The foundation counts with different individuals who believe in the NGO´s mission and therefore volunteer with no monetary reward, however, resources run low and it proves to be a daily struggle for these volunteers.

Coach Abdul Qudus, a volunteer (and football coach) in charge of development football in Ghana, has reached out to the IE Philanthropic Club asking for financial aid so he can provide the children under his care with food, school clothes, school supplies, medical bills, and soccer equipment.

As is common knowledge, several individuals in Ghana live in a constant battle against poverty, surviving by a thread. Most individuals work under extreme conditions just to get their basic needs met. The situation is precarious, and help is needed, therefore, the Philanthropic Club decided to dedicate their efforts into raising funds for coach Abdul. The children under his care are orphans or abandoned children who have found hope in soccer because of the unity and sense of companionship this sport creates.

“Schools are opened on last Tuesday and I am going from school to school in search of a place for some of the kids who are not in school, but no positive results” says coach Abdul, as he strives daily to try and build a platform where these unfortunate kids can find a way towards a more prosperous future.

The Philanthropic Club, with the help of some student volunteers, will be installed outside the Cafeteria selling little stationary cards that allow you to write a small text to your loved ones. Your friends will love knowing that the rose they received signifies your love and appreciation for them, additionally from it being the reasons that a child in Ghana is receiving a text book for the upcoming school year or a pair of football boots to score goals next season in the pitch. They need your help, and IE’s Philanthropic Club aims to create a platform where you will be able to create an impact on these children’s lives whilst declaring your love towards that special someone.

Buy a rose, send the rose, Spread the Love!
