Networking is Key



On the 25th of January, the IE Sports Management Club organized an astounding talk by Eduardo Fernández-Cantelli, a former Marketing manager of Real Madrid. The session was packed with IE Business School students, ardent in pursuing a career in the field of Sports Marketing and Management. The speaker, being a connoisseur of the Sports field, delivered an enticing presentation about the structure and business models of the sports industry.

The speech explored the importance of the digitalization of the sports leagues and the imperative roles played by the clubs, brands, media, and the fans in the ecosystem of Sports Management. With over 80 keen motivated students attending the speech, it was an electric and vivacious session.

Numa Desrues, a second-year BBA student interested in pursuing Sports Management in the future said, “Mr. Fernandez provided a great insight into the field of Sports Management, and delivered a very informative session that inspired me to further explore this field.”

When speaking to Youssef El Hariry, a BBA student, he said, “This session gave me the information I need to further get involved in this sector and hopefully succeed in it.”

The session also delved into the topic of “Sports outside sports”, discussing in detail the evolution of sports media and the future of big data analytics in sports. The IE Sports Management Club is ardent in organizing more of such events in the future.
