#IEU CREATIVITY DAY
SEGOVIA - On Thursday January 30, IEU Campus Life and the Art Society hosted the annual IEU Creativity Day. The event took place in Casa de La Moneda and was full of many workshops, live performances and exhibitions.
Two weeks ago, IEU Campus Life and the Art Society hosted IEU Creativity Day, where students took part in various cultural and artistic activities such as the Debate Tournament by the IEU Debate Club, a painting performance and a workshop by the artist Alberto Fernández Hurtado, a DJ session by Expoboiler (UVA students) and a live performance from the IEU Music Club.
The day started off with talks with IE professors: Edgar Gonzalez, the head of Bachelor in Design, Carmen Van Bruggen from IE Humanities Center and Francesco Furno, professor of Graphic Design and Infographics in Bachelor in Communication.
Their talks were focused on the importance of creativity in their professional careers and in our daily lives.
One of the most attended activities was by the 3rd year Architecture student, Đỗ Xuân Hoàng. He hosted the Fusion Menu Conceptualisation workshop where attendees learned about fusion food and created their own creative menu.
“The menu workshop was quite a fun session, we had participants from Egypt, El Salvador, Lithuania, Spain, Tanzania, and China,” said Hoàng. “We brainstormed and discussed the flavour profiles of our respective cultural backgrounds and came up with 4 different course menus.”
Only concern that was raised by the students was that there were too many workshops going on at the same time.
“There was a bit too many things going on at once,” complained Hoàng. “I wished that I could attend other activities too.”
Overall, the general feedback from the participants was very positive.
“The creativity day, in my opinion, went quite well,” stated Öykü Aygül, 2nd year BIR student who participated in Spanishness & Cinema Screenings workshop by the Film Theory Club.
“Even though some activities got more attention and some none, it was a success. I had a lot of fun!”
Also, artisanal San Frutos beer was served to the attendees.
“The artisanal beer was a great bonus that helped the creativity flow in the subsequent workshops,” mentioned Matt Lawson, 2nd year BBA-BIR student who attended Exquisite Corpses Workshop with Alberto Fernández Hurtado, “The painting workshop with Alberto was very relaxing and enjoyable and there was a great ambience in the Casa de la Moneda.”
“We were absolutely happy with the aftermath. Students’ happiness is refuelling for us, when we see happy faces we get motivated to continue what we do,” remarked Carlos Redondo, the coordinator of the Creativity Center.
“It is always a big challenge coordinate an era of activities and this time it all happened between 2 hours and they evolved around different creative ideas.”
“I love my job and the Creativity Day, made my day, even almost half of my year!” cheered Redondo.
“I invite people to use the most out of the Creativity Center, it is a unique opportunity IE students have!”
