#GameRecap: IE University boys' basketball team Segovia
The IE University’s boys’ basketball team has been playing in Liga Provincial since October 2016. Over the past two weekends the team has played three games against UVa, Cuéllar and CBA. Two of the games were a victory and one was a loss.
On Saturday, January 20th game against UVa was one of the most important for the team, especially to team captain Borja García.
“My grandfather passed away on Friday (the day before the game) so I had that extra motivation to play well and dedicate it to him,” said Borja.
He ended up scoring the most number of points of the game and even had a favorite moment of the game.
“My favorite shot I made, was a layup and one where I was called ‘the foul’ since it was a very dirty foul and I still made the basket,” said Borja Garcia
Last Friday match was sadly not as exiting, through all efforts, the boys lost against Cuéllar. Despite everything, the team members remained positive for Sunday 28th game against CBA.
“Given the fact we played a very hard opponent on Friday, we learned from our lesson and we could put it into practice on Sunday’s game,” said team player Yannik Scheurer, “It was the perfect recovery for us as we won this game with intelligence and good ball movement.”
The team’s line-up for the three games consisted of Borja García (captain), Clint Goodrich (coach), Jose Hernández, Mario Aoki, Yannik Scheurer, Edward Ho, Matija Pavicevic and Luis J Martínez. Although not every player played every game they at least all played one.
The next game is one we should all be excited for, “The Campus Clash”, IE Segovia vs. IE Madrid.
“It will be very exciting as we get to play against the Madrid team which some of them players are our former teammates. Looking forward to kick some serious ass,” said Scheurer.
