A Christmas for Everyone
After a long month of preparation the campus’ second-year communication class partnered with the mentorship program to create a Christmas fundraising cocktail party: The Winter Wonderland at the IEU Creativity Center, Casa de la Moneda.
The main idea of the event was to create a fundraising holiday-themed party to welcome winter and bring some help to Caritas before the cold weather set in. Whereas the class started organizing the event after the mentorship program, the two ended up pairing to create a wider event that could be more effective for the charity. Once everything had been agreed, the event got joined by Uniplaces that decided to make the event even bigger by sponsoring it.
About 200 people gathered to share a drink may it be a craft beer at the San Frutos’s open bar, one of the three types of wine or even just a soft drink. The cocktail also proposed appetizers, different types of pizza and even sweets and treats. But not only were the guests able to benefit from the restauration, they also and most importantly shared an amazing experience.
The live music offered as well as the DJ’s amazing mixes got our guests to dance and enjoy the party from the beginning until the very end. The photographs present did not miss a single bit of all the fun. A Christmas Tombola was organized for Caritas with all money going to the charity and a prize was dedicated to the ugliest Christmas sweater. Not only did the charity benefit from the fundraising but also from clothes and money donations that were made at the entrance.
All the teams that worked on the event enjoyed contributing to it. The decoration team admitted “As a team we all truly enjoyed decorating Casa de la Moneda, especially since we are far away from home and we could have a taste of Christmas before break.” In addition to that, they declared “Even though we ended up tired, we were all satisfied of our beautiful venue!” about the result of their work.
The event planning team admitted the origin of the success of the event: “Since we are a big group planning this event, we are able to achieve precisely what students want.” “Being in a collaboration with the mentorship program we are able to gather students for a diverse spectrum” they added. The semester ended stunningly with everyone able to spend a magical evening while contributing to a good cause, the event having raised more than 200 euros as well as clothes.
