IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE EDITORIAL BOARD
Based on the incongruence demonstrated by IE University’s administration in trying to influence the official proceedings of the Student Government elections, The Stork has decided to withdraw its official participation from debate moderation and organization. We believe that this is not only the fairest option, but the correct one, as our primary aim is, and will always, be to preserve the integrity and accountability of this university and its institutions. Let it be known that that the Stork does not in any way support this last-minute revision of the debate format and proceedings instituted by the administration; by altering and influencing the course of this event, the university is undermining the very student autonomy it is supposed to defend.
Moreover, the instituted changes have also undermined the results of the poll that had the objective to select final participants in the Big Debate, originally aimed to be held at 2PM today. The results of the poll were fair, numerous and legitimate. To eliminate the objective of this poll is undemocratic and disrespectful to the students’ right of choice. Since our core value is to make the university’s institutions accountable, we cannot, out of principle, support these changes.
